How to Become a Pensacola Beach Lifeguard
There are no scheduled tryouts as of right now.
The minimum age requirement is 16 years old. We require American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification and the ABILITY to obtain a valid Florida driver's license to be hired. The ARC CPR for the professional rescuer is recommended. The tryout consists of a 600 yard swim in no more than 10 minutes and a 1.5 mile run in no more than 12 minutes. There is a 30 minute break in between. If you pass in the allotted time and have proper requirements you will then be scheduled for an interview.

If chosen, qualified applicants will then be required to complete the guidelines set forth by the USLA for an open water seasonal lifeguard trainee. This includes, but is not limited to, successfully passing 40 hours of open water training. More details can be found here.

*The minimum requirements are non-negotiable and are conditions of employment*

Starting pay: $13.33/hr.

-You will have to be present at a tryout.
-Bring all certifications with you.
